Ovid LinkSolver Features Easy Implementation and Advanced Functionality for InfoPros

New York, NY (April 22, 2003) - Ovid today announced Ovid LinkSolver, its powerful new universal link resolver that provides end-users with significantly advanced linking capabilities with which to access their library’s entire collection of web-based content, as well as a wealth of Internet resources, regardless of where they reside.

Ovid LinkSolver can be purchased independently of Ovid's current product line or integrated into the OvidWeb Gateway platform. Ovid LinkSolver provides information professionals with complete flexibility in defining, organizing and displaying links based not only on their institutions' existing electronic content collections, but also on a full range of linking options available to researchers through the Internet.

When used with Ovid's superior search engine, Ovid LinkSolver also features a unique option that enables end-users to conduct a search in Ovid's bibliographic resources and limit the results to citations in which full text is available - either located within Journals@Ovid or hosted externally.

Librarians, students and researchers expect to have access to all sources of full text content, and to be able to navigate freely among their subscribed-to resources, no matter the publisher, wherever they reside, said Dean Vogel, Ovid president and chief executive officer. Ovid LinkSolver has an advanced administration interface which, in most cases, eliminates the need for Perl programming, thereby dramatically reducing implementation time when compared with other link resolver offerings. Information professionals can utilize Ovid's pre-defined templates, enabling them to leverage best practices for the most common and necessary linking functions. Ovid will also configure and manage an institution's links for customers that choose to subscribe to this service.

Links@Ovid
Ovid also today announced that it is offering powerful new outbound full-text linking functionality, delivered as a service within the OvidWeb Gateway solution. This Links@Ovid functionality will now be available to medical and academic customers at no additional charge, providing linking from Ovid’s more than 100 bibliographic databases to electronic full text hosted internally or externally, as well as locally held print resources through institutional OPACs and document delivery services. Using Links@Ovid, end-users now have the enhanced capability of linking from Ovid to a greatly expanded list of full text content that includes titles from both publishers and content aggregators.

Direct links from Journals@Ovid: End-users are able to link directly from cited references in Journals@Ovid content to all sources of link resources.

Links@Ovid is the most robust and feature-rich linking solution - available at no cost - to academic and medical institutions worldwide. SilverPlatter Internet and intranet customers have and will continue to enjoy similar functionality using the SilverLinker product.

Advanced Functionality for the Administrator
Ovid LinkSolver and Links@Ovid were designed to help administrators organize and maintain their enterprise’s information environment easily and effectively. All administrative functionality is now integrated into the OvidWeb Gateway interface. Once authenticated as an administrator, the information professional can access a wide range of administrative tools via a single login, enabling streamlined workflow and minimizing disruptions.

Ovid LinkSolver will be available in June 2003 and will be sold at a significantly reduced price until the end of the year.
