Ovid Partners with QUOSA to Offer Desktop and Team Sharing Platform for Full-Text Article Retrieval, Management, and Search Needs
QUOSA Information Manager Increases Search Productivity and Discovery

New York, NY (October 19, 2005) — Ovid Technologies, a Wolters Kluwer business and global leader in electronic medical, scientific, and academic information research solutions, today announced an exclusive partnership with QUOSA, Inc., the leading developer of full-text article retrieval, organization, and searching software, to offer QUOSA Information Manager—a complete desktop environment allowing users to query, update, organize, share, and analyze information. By addressing the need for productivity tools at the desktop, Ovid and QUOSA are helping end-users harness the full power of scholarly information in support of medical and academic research.

The QUOSA offering complements and expands Ovid's rich search and discovery platform to expand the reach of literature searching. With QUOSA Information Manager, users install a desktop plug-in "dashboard," that enables batch retrieval of full-text content in either PDF, HTML, or abstract formats from channels such as Ovid, PubMed, or other database search sources. QUOSA easily integrates with existing resource management tools including link resolvers, such as Ovid LinkSolver", and citation management tools, such as EndNote® and Reference Manager®, for building and maintaining bibliographic files.

"The Ovid and QUOSA partnership fulfills the promise of a superior literature search, retrieval, management, and full-text searching solution designed and implemented with an understanding of end-user workflow patterns," said Jay Chakrapani, Vice President of Technology Product Management at Ovid. "QUOSA offers a cost-effective solution and tremendous customization options designed to meet the specific resource integration needs of each customer, whether a small academic institution or large pharmaceutical enterprise."

"We are pleased to partner with Ovid to bring an exciting solution to the worldwide market. Ovid's keen understanding of content and end-user search needs are an ideal match with our full-article retrieval and management, team sharing, and full-text search offerings. Together, we're opening to a broader market a feature-rich article retrieval, organizer, full-text searching, and team sharing platform," said Malcolm MacKenzie, CEO of QUOSA, Inc.

QUOSA Information Manager has additional add-on functionality to enrich team sharing and alerting with the Virtual Library module. This component is designed to support integrated, copyright compliant team sharing, annotation, and alerting. This module is an exceptional feature allowing easy article information sharing and transferring documents, ideally suited for research project groups and team members.
