Visit Stand #75 for In-booth Presentations and Get The Latest News on OvidSP and New Content Offerings New York, NY (January, 20, 2009) – Ovid, part of Wolters Kluwer Health and a global leader in the development and delivery of customizable electronic research information for the medical, scientific and academic markets, will be showcasing Ovid Universal Search, its new premium cross-platform search solution, and Nursing@Ovid, its new nursing & allied health portal, at the ALIA Information Online 2009 conference, which will be held beginning today through January 22nd at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre. Conference attendees can also learn about new ebooks and other new content offerings. Ovid is exhibiting at Stand #75. “We introduced Ovid Universal Search and Nursing@Ovid to the market in early October and we’re eager to hear firsthand feedback from our key Australian customers at this year’s conference,” said Karen Abramson, President & CEO of Ovid. “Both products are based on direct feedback on what users are looking for to improve their research productivity. Nursing@Ovid, which includes Ovid Universal Search as a core component, is our first foray into ‘vertical’ search solutions—specific tools and interfaces dedicated to specific user groups or professional practice areas.” Ovid Universal Search, an optional, premium feature, delivers cross-platform content searching all within OvidSP. That means users can simultaneously search all of their institution’s subscribed content, whether it’s available on OvidSP, free sites, or other subscription platforms. They can take advantage of many of OvidSP’s search and workflow tools to refine, manage, and save results retrieved through Ovid Universal Search. Built on the architecture of OvidSP, Nursing@Ovid streamlines access to nursing and allied health full text for use in practice, research, education, and administration. It’s powered by the proprietary Ovid Nursing Subject Thesaurus, a controlled vocabulary that focuses on real-world nursing and allied health terminology. Nursing@Ovid subscribers receive access to the Ovid Nursing Database, based on the nursing and allied health subset of Ovid MEDLINE®, nursing-related journals, as well as access to the Nursing Advisor, a clinical decision support tool from Wolters Kluwer Health’s, Clinical Solutions’ business unit. Ovid loaded more than 550 new ebooks onto Books@Ovid in 2008, adding to its extensive list of premier references from leading publishers like Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, Springer + Science Business Media, Oxford University Press, and Jones & Bartlett. Ovid also unveiled the LWW Definitive Archive, an extensive collection of backfiles of more than 230 journals from LWW. Coverage dates for the journal content in this archive typically begin with Vol 1, Issue 1 and end with the final journal issue of 2003. Ovid also continues to expand its offering of EMBASE, one of the world’s leading biomedical databases. Updates to EMBASE are now available on a daily as well as weekly basis. In addition, the EMBASE Daily Alert is scheduled to be available on OvidSP shortly. EMBASE Daily Alerts are daily packages of pre-indexed citations and abstracts that are scheduled for later inclusion in the current EMBASE file. Attendees will also be pleased to hear that 8 new journals from Lippincott Williams & Williams, one of the world’s most prestigious science, medicine, and nursing publishers, scheduled to come onto the OvidSP platform this quarter. These include Diseases of the Colon & Rectum, European Journal of Anaesthesiology, International Journal of Gynecological Cancer, Journal of Nursing Research, Regional Anesthesia & Pain Management, Journal of Neuroscience Nursing, Journal of the Dermatology Nurses’ Association, and Medical Innovation & Business.
