New York, NY (June 14, 2009) – Ovid, part of Wolters Kluwer Health, and a global leader in the development and delivery of customizable electronic research information for the medical, healthcare and academic markets, announced today that it is showcasing the power and flexibility of OvidSP; premium full-text and bibliographic content in petroleum and geosciences; and new document management and workflow tools from QUOSA at the 2009 Special Libraries Association Annual meeting, which is being held beginning today through June 17th at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC.

“We make it a point to stay on top of the changing needs of librarians as well as end users, and SLA offers us a great opportunity to meet with many customers face to face,” said Andrew L. Popper, Vice President of Global Products for Ovid. “This year, we’re excited to point out best practices on using our OvidSP platform and our portfolio of content in petroleum & geosciences, an increasingly important segment for this market. We are particularly pleased to offer new document workflow tools through our partnership with QUOSA in support of intensive end user research needs in science and medicine.”

Visitors to the Ovid booth #600 can view 15-minute in-booth theatre presentations on OvidSP, content offerings in petroleum and geosciences, and products from QUOSA

One of the benefits of the OvidSP platform is the variety of search modes, which allow all types of users to choose a particular style of searching based on what they’re looking for and how they like to search. The OvidSP in-booth presentation will cover best practices of all 6 search modes, as well as more details on recent platform enhancements and Ovid Universal Search™, a unique cross-platform search solution.

As one of the leading aggregators of online scholarly information, Ovid offers seamless access to thousands of premium, current resources from the world’s leading publishers. Visit booth #600 to hear more about full-text and bibliographic offerings in petroleum and geosciences. Key journals include Geotechnical and Geological Engineering and Journal of Petrology; databases include Petroleum Abstracts Tulsa Database, GeoRef, and GEOBASE.

Ovid’s newest offering from QUOSA is QUOSA Browser Plus™, which enables users to quickly download large numbers of full-text articles from a search results list in OvidSP, saving valuable time. It automatically renames the articles according to a user-defined naming convention and saves them in a specific location. Ovid’s QUOSA in-booth presentation also focuses on QUOSA Information Manager™ and QUOSA Virtual Library™, as well as on how the entire suite improves workflow efficiencies for archive, current awareness, medical affairs, and patent review applications. According to Malcolm MacKenzie, President of QUOSA, “Browser Plus frees users from time-consuming tasks of acquiring and managing PDFs while still using their browser as the preferred application interface.  At the same time it is seamlessly integrated with both QUOSA Information Manager’s full-article organization function and QUOSA Virtual Library.”
