INIS Database
Source: International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)

Coverage: 1970 to Present
Number of Records: 2,400,000 +

The world's most comprehensive and leading information source on the peaceful applications of nuclear science and technology

The INIS bibliographic database on the peaceful uses of nuclear energy published by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) contains over 2.4 million abstracted records and links to over 500,000 full texts of Non-Conventional Literature which is not easily available, making it the world's most comprehensive and leading information source on the peaceful applications of nuclear science and technology. INIS is updated monthly on the SilverPlatter platform and is available for both Internet and CD subscriptions.

It is compiled from data submitted by INIS centres in 110 Member States and 19 co-operating International Organizations. Each centre is responsible for cataloguing and indexing all documents within the INIS subject scope that are published within its borders.

The database covers all aspects of the peaceful uses of nuclear science and technology including nuclear reactors, reactor safety, nuclear fusion, the application of radiation and radioisotopes in medicine, agriculture, industry and pest control as well as related fields such as nuclear chemistry, nuclear physics and materials science. Special emphasis is placed on the environmental, economic and health effects of nuclear energy. Legal and social aspects associated with nuclear energy are also covered as well as the economic and environmental aspects of all non-nuclear energy sources.
