The Journal of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association (JAPNA) provides quality, up-to-date information to promote psychiatric nursing, improve mental health care for culturally diverse individuals, families, groups, and communities, as well as shape health care policy for the delivery of mental health services.

The Journal publishes both clinical and research articles relevant to psychiatric nursing. Authors describe critical and timely analyses of the emerging issues and trends in psychiatric nursing, and present innovative models of practice related to mental health care systems. JAPNA, a peer-reviewed journal, not only publishes original research and practice-focused articles, but also features editorials, interviews, briefings, and letters to the editors.
