Sorting Results

OvidSP allows you to sort your results by a variety of criteria. The example below lists sorting criteria for the Ovid MEDLINE database. Sorting criteria varies from database to database.

  • Score (Relevancy Score - Basic Search mode only)
  • Annotated
  • Database (when searching more than one database)
  • Author
  • Country of Publication
  • Entry Date (date entered into database)
  • Journal
  • Language
  • Publication Type
  • Record Owner (owner of the record, e.g. National Library of Medicine
  • Journal Subset
  • Status
  • Title
  • Unique Identifier
  • Year of Publication

The Sorting option is located on the Search Information Tool. Note that there is a maximum set size of 6000 records for sorting.
