Managing search results

Using Results Tools

Results Tools assist users in managing their results via a series of customizable widgets.

  • Search Information – provides information about your search
  • Filter Results – provides the ability to narrow search results
  • My Projects – allows you to drag and drop search results into a project

Each widget can be expanded or collapsed. Javascript users can also re-order widgets via drag and drop.

Search Information widget is collapsed while Filter By and My Projects are both in their expanded view.

You can also remove a widget from your results display through Results Tools Options.

From the View Results Tools popup, you may un-check the widget to remove it from your display or check it to add it back to your display.

Search Information

The Search Information tool provides:

  • User-entered search terms
  • Additional terms the system may have added to the search (when “include Related Terms” is selected) – the list of terms may be expanded or collapsed
  • Number of results
  • Sort by Option – sort results with a variety of sorting options
  • Customize Display option – Customize the Citation View
  • OvidSP performs a spelling check on each search term. When OvidSP detects a possible spelling error, the search will be executed, but OvidSP will notify you that there may be a mis-spelled term in your search. Spelling messages are displayed on the Search Information widget

Filter By

The Filtering Tool allows you to narrow your results by a variety of criteria, including:

  • Relevancy
  • Years
  • Subject
  • Author
  • Journal
  • Resources (available for multi-file search)
  • Publication Type

My Projects

The My Projects tool allows you to drag and drop search results directly into a project.

projects   You can also navigate to a project by selecting the hyperlinked project name, or create a new project.
