Selecting a Search mode

Find Citation

OvidSP's Find Citation mode lets you submit fielded data to retrieve specific journal article citations.

There are two (2) ways to navigate to the Find Citation mode:

  1. Find Citation mode on the Main Search page.
  2. Find Citation link from the Journal List's Search Bar.

From the Main Search page:

  1. Select the Find Citation mode.
  2. Fill in the form with all the applicable fields you can supply.
  3. Click the Search button.

From the Journal List's Search Bar:

Click Find Citation link.
OvidSP will navigate you to the Main Search page. You may then continue with steps 2 and 3 above describing how to use the Find Citation mode from the Main Search page.

OvidSP will post the results to your search history,

  Find Citation is available in all OvidSP databases except Books@Ovid.
  OvidSP's Find Citation automatically truncates entries in the journal and author fields by default. Contact your site administrator to change the default.

Using Find Citation's Search Box

The Find Citation mode is an electronic form of text entry search boxes that help you find known article citations. OvidSP restricts its retrieval only to those citations that satisfy the criteria entered in the search field box(es).
 
Restricts retrieval of citations that matches the journal name you enter.

Restricts retrieval of citations that matches the author's surname you enter.
Restricts retrieval to only those records of journals whose publication year matches your entry.
 Restricts retrieval to only those records that matches the volume you enter.
 Restricts retrieval to only those records that matches the issue number you enter.
Restricts retrieval to only those records for which the start page of the article matches the number you enter.
Restricts retrieval to only those records that matches the publisher you enter.
Restricts retrieval to citations that contain the term(s) you enter as part of its title.
Number that identifies a specific issue of a particular journal.

Digital Object Identifier of the specific journal.
 
Truncation is available in all Find Citation fields. Type fewer than four characters followed by the $ symbol to increase the scope of your search in a field. For example, type ang$ into the Title field, and OvidSP retrieves citations with titles that contain the terms Angola, angiostrongylus, angiogenesis, and so on.
