Accessing Ovid Full Text

Ovid Full Text links display records to which your site has purchased a subscription in Journals@Ovid or an Ovid Deposit Account. Buy Now links display records to which you have purchased Full Text access through an Ovid PayPerView transaction. When the three types of Ovid Full Text access exist in the same session, the order of priority is as follows:

Deposit Accounts		See Deposit Account Access to Ovid Full Text.
	Ovid Full Text is the default link name of Ovid Full Text access through a deposit account. Depending on link configurations in your site, this may be named differently. For clarity about link names, contact your site administrator.
PayPerView		See Ovid's PayPerView and Purchase Ovid Full Text.

To open Full Text, click on the appropriate Full Text link.

When Full Text is available, you can also click on the hyperlinked title.

Deposit Account Access to Ovid Full Text

Accessing Ovid Full Text through a deposit account will either: Opens the Full Text directly Opens a Billing Code Form depending on how deposit accounts are set up in your site.

Billing codes are site specific and include project names, department purchasing codes, grant names or numbers, client names, and so on. If you forgot the billing code for your account, contact your site administrator.

For complete access to your Ovid Full Text:

1. Fill up all the fields in the form. All fields are required.
   
2. OPTIONAL: Select the Save my info box, and OvidSP recalls the information each time you return.
3. Click the Continue button.

OvidSP will open the Full Text Display:

• View the Full Text for up to 24 hours from the time of your first access
• Set an OvidSP Jumpstart to it
• Email it to a list of recipients
• Save it to your desktop
• Download its PDF file (when available)

By setting a cookie to your local PC, OvidSP makes a 24-hour access possible. These tasks may only be performed from the same PC on which the cookie was set. Do not clear cookies during the 24-hour access period! If you do, your purchased access will be lost and may not be recovered.

When the balance of a deposit account is depleted or the account is no longer active, OvidSP automatically converts Ovid Full Text links to Buy Now links.

Viewing Ovid Full Text

Ovid Full Text lets you view articles in a format similar to how the article is formatted in the actual journal, in terms of text, tables, figures, and equations. Click on an Ovid Full Text link from within your session, and OvidSP opens the Full Text Display.

When available, Ovid Full Text will open the article in format. Format provides additional features that are not available from the PDF format.

For example, from the format, you can:

• Export images to powerpoint
• Link to references from within the text
• Easily navigate within the document using the document outline
• Store excerpts from the document in My Projects using the Snag Snippet feature

When available, you can also open the document in PDF format. PDF format is most suitable for printing the Full Text.

OvidSP provides several options from the display.

	Article Information	Article Information and cover image where available. Click the show/hide cover link to show or hide the cover.
	Author information	Contains author information and an article summary. Click on the icon to collapse this section.
	Full Text Article	Displays the content of the Full Text article.
	Article Tools	Includes links depending on your subscription and the article being viewed. The options may include:   Displays the article in PDF format.   Activates the Print Preview option.   Activates the Email Article Text option.   Activates the Save Article Text option.   Activates the Add to My Projects option.   Displays the article abstract. Displays the bibliographic information used to identify an article. Email a link to the article. Enables you to export the article to your citation manager (if available). Enables you to export all images of the article into a PowerPoint document (if available). Enables you to select parts of article to be added as snippets to a project. Find other records that may refer to the article. Displays key information about the article such as description, usage statements, etc.
	Outline	Outline of the Full Text article. Contains links to all sections of the article including its references and image gallery, if available.
	Image Gallery	Displays a collection of all available images pertaining to the article. To export one or more images to a PowerPoint presentation, select the appropriate checkbox next to the image (s) you wish to export. To select all images, click the Select All link. Click the Unselect All link if you wish to remove all checkboxes and unselect all images.
		To go to the Image Gallery, click on the Image Gallery link on the Outline Box or press the END key.

Outputting Ovid Full Text

OvidSP provides you with several output options for Full Text.

Save Ovid Full Text

Click the Save Article Text link to save Ovid Full Text to your computer.

From the Save Article Text page:

Follow the prompts of your local computer to save the Ovid Full Text.

OvidSP provides you the option to either Save the file or Open before saving. To abort the action, click the Cancel button without saving. To return to the Full Text Display, click the Previous Page link from the Save Full Text Article page.

Email Ovid Full Text

To email an Ovid Full Text, see details in Email Article Text page.

Print Ovid Full Text

To print the Ovid Full Text from your session, click the Print Preview link.

OvidSP opens the Print Preview Options page. From there, follow the steps below:
1.	Select the graphic size.
2.	Click the Continue button.
3.	OvidSP displays a printable version of the Full Text and opens your local printer dialogue. Click the Print button to proceed with printing.

To return to your session and to the Full Text Display, click the Previous Page link.

Create an OvidSP Jumpstart to Ovid Full Text

Use the Email Jumpstart option to email a link to the Full Text article.

Viewing Images within Ovid Full Text

Within OvidSP Full Text, figures, graphics, and tables are displayed as thumbnail images located at the right hand side of the reading pane. Click a thumbnail to view a larger sized image.

Linking to References in Ovid Full Text

OvidSP creates hyperlinks to author references throughout the document.

Click on the hyperlink to jump directly to the reference at the end of the Full Text display.

Each reference has a number of links associated with it that provide more information, or access to the Full Text when available. As with all links in Ovid, the links that display are determined by:

• Link configuration for your site
• Your site's Full Text subscriptions
• Availability of electronic Full Text
• Configuration at remote publisher sites

To return to your place within the Full Text display, select the Context Link.

You can also jump directly to the References section at the end of the Full Text by selecting References from the document outline.

Add to Projects

OvidSP will open the Add Item window.

On the Add Item(s) to: popup window; To add the selected items to an existing project, select the An Existing Project option and locate on the dropdown menu the project where you want the items added To add the selected items to a new project, select A New Project option and type the Project Name When you are done, click on the Add Item(s) button.
