OvidSP Record Annotations

OvidSP displays an Annotation icon next to each record in the title display. The icon appearance indicates whether an annotation exists for a record or not.

Annotations in the Record Titles Display

OvidSP lets you create, view and delete annotations.

Create an Annotation

Adding an annotation to a record:

Add Annotation

1

Click the blank Annotation icon of a record. OvidSP opens the Add Annotation window.
2
Type your notes in the text box.
3
Click the Save Annotation button.
note
  • OvidSP saves your notes and "sticks" them to the record.
  • Annotations stay with records for as long as your site's OvidSP subscription is valid, unless you delete them.

Annotations may be created and associated with both articles as well as images. Each work element may contain multiple annotations, and each annotation will contain the date that the annotation was created, as well as the name of the Creator.

The View Annotation window is displayed once Save Annotation button is clicked.

The following attributes accompany your annotation:

  • Annotation Creator - the first and last name of creator
  • Date Stamp - (mm/dd/yyyy) date the annotation is created
  • Comment - (unlimited text form) body

OvidSP displays the Annotated Record withannotate icon once you annotate a record. You may view, edit or delete your annotation(s) at any time by clicking this icon.

tip

An icon accompanies every item annotated, regardless of where in the application it is displayed.

View an Annotation
