Email OvidSP Content

OvidSP lets you email content to yourself or others.. OvidSP 2.0 lets you email the following types of content:

You may also email all or any of your articles, results, chapters, or work products.

To email OvidSP content:

Generally, you will always follow these steps to email the OvidSP content.

Type email address(es).

Type your own email address.

OPTIONAL: Type a different subject title.

OPTIONAL: Type comments.

OPTIONAL: Select this box to include the search strategy of the records.

Click the Send Email button.
Email attributes are as follows:

To

This field is validated to ensure standard xxx@xxx.xxx format. This allows multiple recipients by separating email addresses with commas. This is a required field which causes an error message to appear if not filled out.

From

This is a required field which is also validated to ensure standard format. Your email address is the default, but is editable.

Subject

Default of this item is based on where in the application this function is invoked.

Comments

A free text form is provided for you to enter your comments to accompany your email.

Contents

It varies based on where in the application this function is invoked.

From search(es) in OvidSP: you may email a single result, selected results, or all results. If a result(s) is(are) selected, these will be emailed.

Results should be included in the body of the email with specific field formats. Titles will link directly to the fulltext record (or complete reference when a full text record is unavailable).

When no results are selected, the entire result set will be included. The default for subject line is "OvidSP search result(s): [search]".

 Separate email addresses using commas (not spaces) for multiple recipients.
 Incorrect addresses may cause the system to discard results without notice!

OvidSP emails the content, then displays the confirmation page. Click the appropriate link to return to your OvidSP session.

Emailing Results Records

From the Result Records Display, select the boxes of records you want to email.

Choose the required items from the Results Manager.

Click the Email button.

OvidSP opens the email form once Email button is clicked. Follow these steps to email the selected results records to a list of specified recipients.

Emailing Journal Full Text

From OvidSP's Journal Full Text display, click the Email icon.

Email an article from this area. The PDF version will be emailed as an attachment, if available. If the PDF file is not available, but the full text is, an HTML version (excluding navigational elements) will be sent as an attachment instead.

note Where no full text is available, the reference will be included in the body of the email. Subject line will be defaulted to "OvidSP Journal Article: [Journal Name]: [Article Title]".

Emailing Table of Contents

Select the records you want to email from the table of contents display. Choose the required items from the Results Manager and click the Email button.

Email the Table of Contents of a journal issue from this area. An HTML version of the journal TOC (excluding navigational elements and search aids like Suggested Terms and Similar Resources) will be emailed as an attachment. Titles will link directly to the fulltext record (where available).

OvidSP opens an email form. Follow these steps to email the table of contents.

Emailing Book Full Text

Click the Email icon from the Book Full Text display.

Email a book section or chapter from this area of the application. An HTML (including pictures) version of the section or chapter you are emailing will be attached to the email, excluding the OvidSP navigation elements.

note Your subject line will default to "OvidSP Book Chapter: [Book Name] ; [Chapter/Section Name]".
