OvidSP Database Fields 
Apply fields to a search statement (or field a search) and restrict OvidSP's search to only the text of the fields indicated.

 Fields displaying this icon may be searched but have no index to display. |

| Click a field to displays scope note information that may help you select fields to apply to your search. |
Searching fields:
 |
Select the Search Fields tab. |
 |
Check the box(es) of field(s) from which you want to restrict your search. |
 |
Type a term or phrase in the text box. |
 |
Click the Search button. |
OvidSP posts results to your search history.
Display and Browse Field Indexes
| From the Search Fields tab, you may view all indexed fields of a database. You may also browse for other fields to search in the index display. |  |
To do so, follow these steps.

Check the box of field index you want to display. |
|
Type a term or phrase in the text box. |
|
Click the Display Indexes button. |
OvidSP displays the fielded index with the term you entered.
| Navigate the index in any one of these three ways: | |

Page by page from the lettered index in which you start |
 |
By tabbed letter/number |
 |
Search elsewhere in the index by entering a new term in the search box provided |
Select the check box and click the Search for Selected Terms button when you find the term in the index you want.
OvidSP will post the results to your search history.
