Publish Ahead of Print in OvidSP
Your site's subscription to Journals@Ovid includes Publish Ahead of Print (PAP)—online access to critical content before it is published in a printed form. PAP Full Text is made available in selected journals from publishers who participate with OvidSP's Publish Ahead of Print program. All PAP content has been peer-reviewed and accepted for publishing.
Active PAP records represent the current version of PAP content. Throughout your session, OvidSP labels PAP records as follows to indicate the stage of publishing development of the PAP record's content:
- Post-acceptance Content has been peer-reviewed and accepted for publishing.
- Post-copyedit Content has been edited for grammar and spelling, and facts have been checked for accuracy and conformity to a desired format.
- Post-author-corrections Content has undergone further review by the author for accuracy.
- Post-editor-corrections Content has been polished by both the author and the editor to improve the final results.
Search or browse for PAP records from within your OvidSP session.

| OvidSP assigns a posting date to every PAP record. The PAP post date is the date on which that version of PAP content was entered into the Journals@Ovid database. | ![]() |
Click a PAP record's Ovid Full Text link, and OvidSP displays a PDF version of the link.

You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed to view PAP Full Text. OvidSP launches PDF files on separate windows where you may save, email, and print the full text directly from the reader. To return to your session, click the Previous Page link.
When PAP content is published in print, OvidSP removes the record from the PAP issue, converts it to an Ovid Full Text record, and inserts it in the online journal issue of Journals@Ovid.
Content in any stage of pre-publication may change significantly before final publication. Because OvidSP's PAP articles present content that is in-process toward final publication, their statements, opinions, and information may contain errors in facts, figures, or interpretation. With this in mind, apply responsibly any information you might gain from Journals@Ovid PAP articles.

Links@Ovid provides access to external (non-OvidSP) resources as part of your session. OvidSP identifies these resources with Full Text links that display throughout your session, including within the Full Text display.

Click a Full Text link, and OvidSP provides access to where the full text resides. The display you see depends on the number of sources available in your site for that full text article.
![]() |
| If only one source has been enabled, the Full Text link takes you directly to the publisher's web site. If multiple sources have enabled, OvidSP displays an interim page from which you can select a source. |
Click a resource link, and OvidSP opens access to the external resource on a separate window while keeping an OvidSP session page open. External Full Text links open on a separate window where the full text is available as a free internet resource or through a login or IP validated account. To ensure uninterrupted access, disable your web browser's pop-up blockers.
Hold down the ALT key and click the TAB to toggle between your OvidSP session and the external resource.
Site administrators and external publishing providers control the availability of content from non-OvidSP sites. If an external site is consistently unavailable, contact your site administrator.
Local holdings access servers (such as an OPAC) are located outside an OvidSP session. If you receive error messages when trying to use a Library Holdings link, the remote server might be unavailable. Error messages display if too many users are trying to access the OPAC at the same time. Try to link again after a few minutes. If the error messages continue, contact your site administrator.
