Frequently Asked Questions: PayPerView

The following questions are commonly asked about OvidSP's PayPerView (PPV).

Are PPV and shopping cart the same thing?

No. PayPerView is a feature that enables customers to access OvidSP Full Text:

PPV access to Ovid Full Text exists within your session along with your Journals@Ovid subscription, your OvidSP Deposit Account access, and open access (non-OvidSP) full text. To access OvidSP Full Text purchases, you must log in to your PPV account and open the Main tab. Or use the confirmation link that OvidSP sent to your email account.

The PPV shopping cart only tracks your OvidSP Full Text purchase selections during a session.

Why can't I buy this OvidSP Full Text?

OvidSP Full Text is not available for purchase through PayPerView when: Click here if you believe there is an error in the availability of an OvidSP Full Text.

When I open an OvidSP session, the record of the purchased Full Text displays a Buy Now link instead of an Ovid Full Text link.

When you purchase OvidSP Full Text through the PPV feature, keep your PPV account open, and try to access the newly purchased Full Text, the record still displays the Buy Now link. Click that Buy Now link, and OvidSP opens your purchased Full Text display. You can also link to the Full Text from the receipt that OvidSP emails to you.

If for some reason you cannot access PPV-purchased Full Text during the 24-hour review period, contact OvidSP Customer Support.

How long do I have before my OvidSP session times out?

The default idle time limit for an OvidSP session is one hour and fifteen minutes. OvidSp displays a warning message about any impending timeout.

Can I select more than one purchase before filling out the billing form?

The PPV shopping cart lets you select as much OvidSP Full Text as you want, one at a time, before having to check out. From your shopping cart, click either the Return to Ovid link or the select additional articles for purchase link to return to your OvidSP session.

What if I forget my PPV account password or email login address?

If you forget your password, click the Forgot your password? link. OvidSP opens a password request box.

Type your email address and click the Request Password button. OvidSP emails the account password to you.

If you cannot remember your PPV account's email address, click here to contact an OvidSP Customer Support representative.
