Your display results may be sorted by their search number either by ascending or descending. Click on the small triangle where "#" is currently displayed to sort your results.

tip OvidSP remembers the state (ascending or descending) of the search history and maintains that state upon your next login.

With the search history open, you may review your search results sets. You may do the following options within your Search History:

    • Combine results sets
    • Remove selected search(es)
    • Display saved searches
  • Remove duplicates
  • Save history search(es)

Combine Results Sets

You may find it useful to combine the results of two or more sets from your search strategy. To do so, select the boxes of results sets you want to combine, then choose a Boolean operator from the search history.

OvidSP combines the selected sets using the operator indicated and displays the new results set.

See details in Boolean Operators to learn more.

Delete Results Sets

As you develop your search, certain statements may become obsolete to your overall strategy. To delete unnecessary search results, tick the box(es) preceding the search(es) and click Remove Selected button.

delselect

To select all sets at once, click the box in the top left-hand corner. OvidSP automatically selects all sets for you.
Make sure that what you tick are the searches you no longer need. Once deleted, the action is irreversible.

Display Results Records

By default, OvidSP displays the last results set of the search history in the record titles display. Click the View Saved to display the records of a different set. This action brings you to another window displaying the Saved Alerts and Searches.

OvidSP displays the records of the set you selected and highlights it in your search history.

Remove Duplicate Records from Results

In a multifile session, the same record may exist in more than one database, and OvidSP may retrieve it multiple times. Such duplicated records skew your results. OvidSP lets you remove duplicate records before viewing, saving, or printing your results.

Deduplicating a results set:.

Results sets that contain more than 6000 records cannot be deduplicated.

Select the Remove Duplicates.

OvidSP opens the Remove Duplicates Page.

Select a set to deduplicate.
Edit field and/or database preferences.
Click the Continue button.
OvidSP ranks results for the deduplicated set according to field, then database preferences that you choose on this page.

OvidSP posts results to your search history.

Save Searches and AutoAlerts
