Ovid's Publish Ahead of Print Full Text

Journals@Ovid's Publish Ahead of Print (PAP) provides you with online access to critical content before it is published in a printed journal issue. PAP Full Text is made available in select journals from publishers who participate with Ovid's Publish Ahead of Print program. All PAP content has been peer-reviewed and accepted for publishing.
Only the Journals@Ovid database has PAP records and their full text articles. PAP Full Text articles are accessible only with your site's subscription to a Journals@Ovid collection.

PAP records are a part of the following elements in your Journals@Ovid session.

Search History PAP records can be among search results that Ovid retrieves from your search statements.
Search Results Display PAP records can display with other Ovid records in your search results set. For details, see PAP Records in Your Search Results Display.

Saved Search or AutoAlert Results PAP records get picked up in the running of your saved searches and AutoAlerts.

In any of these locations, active PAP records represent the current version of PAP content. Throughout your Journals@Ovid session, Ovid labels PAP records as follows to indicate the stage of publishing development of the PAP record's content.

Post-acceptance PAP content has been peer-reviewed and accepted for publishing.
Post-copyedit PAP content has been edited for grammar and spelling and facts have been checked for accuracy and conformity to a desired format.
Post-author-corrections; PAP content has undergone further review by the author for accuracy.
Post-editor-corrections PAP content has been polished by both author and editor to improve the final results.
Ovid assigns a posting date to every PAP record. The PAP post date represents the date on which that particular version of PAP content was entered into the Journals@Ovid database. So, in the following example, the post-author-corrections version of the PAP record's content was posted to the Journals@Ovid database on January 27, 2006.

Label of PAP Record

Content in any stage of pre-publication can change significantly before final publication. Because Ovid's PAP articles present content that is in-process toward final publication, their statements, opinions, and information may contain errors in facts, figures, or interpretation. With this in mind, apply responsibly any information you might gain from Journals@Ovid PAP articles.

When PAP content is finally published in print, Ovid removes the PAP record from the PAP issue, converts it to a regular Ovid Full Text record, and inserts it in the online journal issue in Journals@Ovid.

From within your Journals@Ovid session, you can access PAP records by searching for them or by browsing your journals subscription for them. When you find a PAP record, click its Ovid Full Text link. Ovid opens a display of PDF-formatted full text.

PAP Full Text Display

For all PAP Full Text, Ovid launches an Adobe Acrobat PDF file in a separate window. You must have Adobe's Acrobat Reader to view PAP Full Text. From this display, you can save, email, and print the full text directly from the reader.
