SilverPlatter Guides AU Author, Editor, Inventor
bozhko-andrew-p in au bozhko* in au bozhko in au inventor in au
The AU field contains the names of up to 100 individual or corporate authors and editors of the journal article. Inventors' names are also included, where applicable. Names appear last name first, followed by the first name or initial, and are "bound" with hyphens. Use the truncation symbol (*) to retrieve variations of an author's name. The search bozhko* in au retrieves any variation of the author name such as "bozhko-andrew-p," "bozhko-andrew," "bozhko-a-p," etc. Alternatively, look up author names in the Index.
Names of editors and inventors are indicated by "Ed.," "Eds.," "Inventor," or "Inventors" following the individual's name. Use hyphens when searching by a full name to ensure precise results.
For records published in or after 1998, names in the AU field may be followed by alpha assignments which provide cross-references to the Author Address (AD), Author URL (URLW), and Author E-mail (EMA) fields. This is useful for matching the author name with the appropriate contact information when several authors are listed in a record. Alpha assignments are displayed in braces, such as: Smith-J-H {a}.
Prior to 1995, only 10 author names could appear in this field and abbreviated organization names were used according to the International Standards Organization (ISO).
