The LS field contains the language in which the source document abstracts were published. The term "Non-English" is also included in this field for documents published in a language other than English.

Use the Language (LA) field to search for the language in which the source document was published.

Note: This field is available in data added to the database from 1993 onward.

Browsing Language Names

As an alternative to searching with the field label, you can browse language names and search for them directly from the Summary Language Field-Specific Index. This field-specific index contains only language names drawn from the LS field, therefore, your search will always yield results. Search results display in the LS field.
