Introduction to CAB ABSTRACTS and CAB SPECTRUM

The CAB ABSTRACTS database covers the subject of agriculture in the broadest sense and includes many related life sciences subjects. It includes: agronomy, biotechnology, crop protection, dairy science, economics, environmental degradation and remediation, forestry, genetics, herbicides, irrigation, leisure, recreation and tourism, microbiology, nutrition, parasitology, rural development, animal breeding and production, veterinary medicine, and much more.

The records may also appear in some 44 printed abstract journals published by CABI Publishing. Journals, monographs, conferences, books, annual reports, and other sources from more than 130 countries are scanned regularly for inclusion in the CAB ABSTRACTS database, to produce approximately 160,000 new records per year. Nearly all the records have informative English abstracts, including records where the original language is not English. A specialized thesaurus of index terms has been developed to provide easy access to all records on the database, as well as a subject classification scheme called CABICODES.

CAB SPECTRUM

CAB SPECTRUM comprises a series of CD-ROMs, each one concentrating on a specific topic and derived from the CAB ABSTRACTS database. Each title is provided with an archival disc containing bibliographic references with abstracts spanning at least 20 years.
