DEN Density/Specific Gravity

non-searchable field

This is one of the fields contained within the Physical Properties superfield (ZCPP) which itself is associated with the Physical Properties message field (CPP).

This field contains the density or specific gravity of the substance that has been derived from a variety of sources. Where possible the data have been standardised. The notation used to denote a superscript over a subscript is to separate the temperature (superscript) at which the measurement of the density of the substance was made in degrees Centigrade relative to the density of water at its' temperature measurement (subscript) as in:

d20/4 2.0674

where the substance density measurement was done at 20 degrees Centigrade relative to a similar measurement for water at a temperature of 4 degress Centigrade.

Where just the temperature of density measurement of the substance is given, this superscript will appear after the letter d as in:

d19.7 1.005

This field is displayed in records but is not searchable.
