The PT field indicates the format of the original document. The four possible publication types are as follows:

book

conference-proceedings

journal-article

report

NOTE: Although this field is available in records added to the database from 1980 through 1990, use the Document Type (DT) field to retrieve more consistent instances of document formats, in general.
