SilverPlatter Guides Using Limit Fields
The limit fields listed below are specially indexed fields that allow you to limit your searches to records of a particular characteristic, such as document type or publication year. This is particularly useful when you retrieve too many records in a search.
To search a limit field, use the in or = operator with the field abbreviation, such as 1998 in py or py=1998. Omitting the field label retrieves information from free text (non-limit) fields only.
Clearinghouse (CH) Geographic Source/Country of Publication (CP) Document Type (DT) Document Type Code (DTC) Source File (FI) Government Level (GL) Language (LA) Pagination (PG) Publication Year (PY) Target Audience (TA) Update Code (UD)
For limit fields containing numeric data, you can also use other special operators:
= equal to, such as py=1990 < less than, such as py<1991 > greater than, such as py>1989 <= less than or equal to, such as py<=1990 >= greater than or equal to, such as py>=1988 - indicates a range, such as py=1988-1990
