The DOI field contains a unique code, which identifies a specific Web file or Internet document. The DOI System is an identification system for digital media and has been designed to provide persistent and reliable identification of digital objects. If a DOI is available, it is proceeded by the "DOI" rubric, for example: doi:10.1037//0022-006X.68.2.351.

The DOI field is for display only; you cannot search in this field. If desired, however, use the URLs, etc. (XURL) field to search for records containing a digital object identifier as well as URLs. For example, the search doi in xurl retrieves records that contain a digital object identifier.
