SilverPlatter Guides AU Author
miller-e-h in au miller* in au
The AU field contains the name(s), personal and corporate, of the author(s) of the original document. From Volume 130 forward, this field can contain up to 100 names. Prior to this time a maximum of 10 authors were cited followed by 'et-al' if more than 10 authors were cited in the original item. When searching, put the last name first and hyphenate all initials. Use the Index to search for last names if you do not know an author's initials. Use the truncation symbol (*) to retrieve all variants of an author's name.
Note: The term "Abstracts" displays in this field when several meeting abstracts have been indexed collectively for the conference proceedings. This occurs in records that describe meetings.
An alphabetic character in braces, such as {a}, following an author name indicates that the address displays in the Author Address (AD) field. The corresponding author address displays in the Author Address (AD) field, preceded by the same alphabetic character in braces.
Browsing Author Names As an alternative to searching with the field label, you can browse names and search for them directly from the Browsable Author Index Field-Specific Index. This field-specific index contains only names drawn from the AU field, therefore, your search will always yield results. Search results display in the AU field.
