Books@Ovid Release News
|
Ovid Technologies is pleased to announce the release of the Books@Ovid enhanced
platform. Ovid's new books platform, designed with guidance from our customers,
promises to be another valuable research tool in our tradition of innovation.
These new features are available with this release:
- Easier Search Capabilities
- Use natural language to search for clinical concepts in a single step:
for example, "prevention of MI in patients with hypertension."
Alternatively, the Key Word button is still available for fielded and
Boolean searching.
- Identify the best results at a glance. Results are retrieved at the
passage level, so you needn’t scroll through entire chapters to
find your results.
- View results ranked by relevance, not by book title.
- Limit results to your specialty (nursing, cardiology etc) to easily
identify the information related to your area of expertise.
- Limit searches to a chosen book type for further precision: for example,
limit to comprehensive texts, drug manuals, or clinical handbooks.
- One-click links from book bibliographies:
- Full text journals
- Bibliographic records
- External resources
- Single, expandable table of contents
- Integrates the book and chapter tables of contents that previously appeared
on separate pages
- Table of contents now always visible when full text is viewed
- Full text synchronizes with table of contents selection
- Retrieved when searching and browsing
- New Browse Options
- Browse by title is organized into clean alphabetic links.
- Browse by subject allows for multiple subjects to be applied to the
same title.
- Subject and alphabetic browse persists for easy navigation.
- Back of the book index browse offers links to the page where the indexed
concept is described.
- Enhanced usability and workflow tools
- Print Preview supports single printing for chapter text, plus all figures
and tables.
- Email JumpStart generates URLs for sections within chapters.
- Updates are now flagged in the table of contents and in the full text.
- Page numbers are presented within the text.
