Ovid Technologies, Inc.2007 Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews Release News |
The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews database has been reloaded.
With this reload, the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews has been merged with Cochrane Database of Methodology Reviews. This request originated from the Cochrane Methodology Review Group and was approved by the Cochrane Collaboration Publishing Policy and Steering Groups in 2007.
All twelve Cochrane reviews and ten protocols that make up the Cochrane Database of Methodology Reviews will be transferred to the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews.
Complete Reviews are prepared and regularly updated by Collaborative Review Groups, and contain highly structured, systematic full-text reviews of methodological studies. Evidence from methodological research is included or excluded on the basis of explicit quality criteria to minimize bias. Each review covers a specific and well-defined area of methodology. Data from studies are often combined statistically to increase the power of the findings of numerous studies which, on their own, may be too small to produce reliable results. In such cases, the review may also include graphs presenting the data from each individual study.
Protocols are place-holders for reviews that are currently being prepared. They summarize the background, rationale, objectives and methods of reviews in preparation.
Complete details on the new database are available in the Field Guide. If you have any questions contact your Ovid Support Representative at support@ovid.com.
