That means you don’t have to spend time working with multiple platforms, going through numerous steps and clicks to get your results. Only Ovid Universal Search offers true cross-platform searching fully integrated into the architecture of one platform.
- Multiple search modes – OvidSP is geared to all types of searchers—from beginners to the more advanced. Depending on how they search and the information they’re looking for,users simply choose their preferred search style and go!
- Basic Search– Geared to novice or occasional searchers, Basic allows you to search using natural language processing, and retrieve relevance-ranked results.
- Advanced Ovid Search/SilverPlatter Search – Supports Boolean search terms and command line syntax searching.
- Multi-Field Search – Allows users to combine search terms using multiple search fields all in one step.
- Find Citation – Already know at least part of a bibliographic citation? Search using the digital object identifier (DOI) or other unique identifiers.
- Search Tools – Use specific tools, such as trees, permuted index, scope notes, explode, and more to find information.
- Search Fields – Search using abstracts, author name, ISSN, and other specific criteria.

- Natural language searching – Available in the Basic Search mode, natural language processing allows users to enter a question in everyday natural language.
