Dear Ovid Customer:

At Ovid, we take customer feedback seriously. All of our product development decisions are based on extensive market research. Many of the features and functionality that are part of the next release are based directly on interviews with information managers and users who’ve provided valuable insight. One thing we’ve heard over and over again is a desire to access an institution’s entire content resource portfolio from a single search platform.

Introducing Ovid Universal Search™ - A New Premium Cross-Platform Search Solution
As part of the upcoming OvidSP release, scheduled for early August, we’re excited to introduce Ovid Universal Search, an optional add-on feature that enables users to:

• Search all of your institution’s subscribed content, wherever it resides—on OvidSP, PubMed, even your OPAC—through OvidSP
• Display results from non-Ovid platforms within the OvidSP interface
• View full text content from multiple platforms in its native interface, such as Ovid or PubMed
• Eliminate switching between multiple search platforms
• Take advantage of OvidSP’s time-saving workflow tools to refine and manage retrieved content from Ovid and non-Ovid sources
• Assemble and organize saved searches, articles, images, and other content retrieved through Ovid Universal Search into your My Projects workspace

Plus, you can focus your end-user training efforts on only one platform.

Only Ovid Universal Search offers true cross-platform searching fully integrated into the architecture of one platform.

Applying Ovid Universal Search to a search query is easy. Just click the Universal Search box on OvidSP’s main search page (Note that the box will not appear if your institution does not use Ovid Universal Search).
 

View results in a tabular format. Each tab includes results from a specific platform.

Access subscribed full text in the “native” interface, wherever it resides.

Contact Ovid for a Trial to Ovid Universal Search
The Ovid Universal Search feature is not part of the standard OvidSP system setup. For information on setting up a trial account for your institution, contact your Ovid Account Representative or support@ovid.com.

OvidSP and Universal Search Release Date
