Creating AutoAlerts from search strategies, TOC AutoAlerts and Expert Searches
At the end of the training sessions attendees will have learned how to create a current awareness search known as an AutoAlert, a Table of Contents (TOC) AutoAlert and an Expert Search on OvidSP. The purpose of an AutoAlert from a search strategy is to deliver records via either email or RSS (Really Simple Syndication) any future results generated from the automatic execution of the search strategy saved in the AutoAlert. The AutoAlert will automatically execute the saved search strategy and deliver the records with fields, format and links at a frequency determined when the AutoAlert was created. An AutoAlert can be created by any user of OvidSP as long as it is enabled for your site. Editing and deleting AutoAlerts also will be covered. A Table of Contents AutoAlert will deliver via email or RSS any new issue of a journal selected from the list of journals in the Journals@Ovid Full Text database. This feature is only enabled is you subscribe to any journal in the Journals@Ovid Full Text database. Expert Searches are shared searches that when enabled are usually created by a librarian or information professional and executed, but cannot be changed by any of the sites users of OvidSP.
