Launched in 1978, the journal is published by the Egyptian Society of Histology and Cytology and covers all aspects of histology, cytology and related subjects.

The journal provides a unique source of information about all aspects of histological and microscopical structure of the cells and tissues, tissue culture and stem cell researches, genetic and immunohistochemical studies and cytological researches. The journal accepts original articles, review articles and letters to the editor. Emphasis and preference are given to research that promotes health protection and management of patients. The journal also encourages authors from all countries to submit papers dealing with subjects within the scope of the journal.
