Primal Pictures Wins 2012 Queen's Award for Enterprise
The Queen of England has awarded medical publisher Primal Pictures the Queen's Award for Enterprise: Innovation 2012 for its 3D human anatomy model. The Queen's Award for Enterprise is the highest award a British business can receive.
Primal Pictures developed its 3D imagery using detailed medical scan data of the human body, viewed from every conceivable angle. Primal used this data to create a wireframe 3D model for each anatomical structure, which was then translated into three-dimensional images that showcase the interrelations of the body systems
"We are deeply honoured to be recognized by HM Queen Elizabeth for our 20 years of effort to develop a medically accurate 3D model of the human anatomy,"" said Peter Allan, CEO of Primal Pictures. "Our 3D Anatomy imagery represents the first major shift in anatomical resources since Vesalius drew accurate dissections 500 years ago. Today, we can provide students and medical practitioners a totally new way to view, understand and virtually interact with every element of the human body."
