Where face-to-face services are not feasible, many professions have adopted telehealth technology to meet patient needs.

Telehealth is the provision of health services from one location to another using a telecommunications medium. Typically, telehealth services are provided by clinicians to underserved populations through the Internet, computer networks, dial-up, and satellite technology. As connectivity can be achieved in a variety of ways, health-care services can be provided to individuals virtually anywhere in the world. As a result, telehealth services have increased substantially since the mid-1990s and are now provided routinely in most states.
