THE SPECIALIST LIBRARY FOR SURGERY, THEATRES AND ANAESTHESIA

Bulletin of the Royal College of Surgeons of England 87(6):p 212-213, June 2005.

January's Web Watch described the development of the National Library for Health (NLH) environment and the creation of virtual specialist libraries designed to generate, organise and mobilise knowledge within particular areas.

At the time of that article's writing (November 2004), a bid from the College, in partnership with the Royal College of Anaesthetists and Morecambe Bay Hospitals NHS Trust, to provide a specialist library had recently been accepted by the NHS Information Authority (now part of NHS Connecting for Health) and the project was just under way.

This article outlines the progress that has been made since then, describes the key issues that have been identified so far and invites anyone with an interest in this area to contribute to this important and exciting project.
