Attachment Theory and Developmental Psychology

Attachment theory has grown to become a crucial paradigm for the study of parent–child relationships, critical in our understanding of early development and of close relationships in general. In the course of its development, this theory has received contributions from Canadian researchers and others from around the world. As an introduction to this special issue of the Canadian Journal of Behavioural Science on Attachment and Developmental Psychology, a brief review of Canadian contributions to this theoretical perspective is provided, together with brief introductions to each article.

La théorie de l’attachement est devenue une perspective incontournable dans l’étude des relations parent-enfant, importante pour notre compréhension du développement et des relations interpersonnelles significatives. L’émergence de cette perspective est attribuable aux travaux de chercheurs provenant du Canada et de partout dans le monde. En tant qu’introduction à ce numéro spécial de la Revue canadienne des sciences du comportement intitulé Théorie de l’attachement et psychologie du développement un bref survol de différentes contributions canadiennes à ce domaine d’étude est réalisé, avec une introduction à chacun des articles qui en font partis.
