Michael J Kelleher, MB, BCh, BAO (Hons), BSc (Hons), MPhil (London), MD, FRCPsych, FRCPI, was a Clinical Director of Psychiatry, Southern Health Board, Visiting Psychiatrist, Mercy Hospital, South Infirmary, Bon Secours and Shanakiel Hospitals, Cork, Ireland; Clinical Lecturer in Psychiatry, University College, Cork, Ireland; Assistant Editor, Irish Journal of Psychological Medicine, Member of Editorial Board, Irish Journal of Psychiatry, Psyche, Archives of Suicide Research and Crisis. He was the founder of the National Suicide Research Foundation, First Vice-President of the International Association for Suicide Prevention, member of the Cork Teaching Hospital's Ethics Committee and a member of the National Task Force on Suicide. He died August 9, 1998.
