The meeting specifically sought to bring together scientists with diverse expertise in molecular biology, epidemiology, and experimental studies in humans and animals in order to reflect upon messages drawn from all of these areas and, through their interactions, to discern future directions for research in obesity, diabetes, and insulin resistance.A summary of a few of the highlights of the meeting is presented.
