With the political turmoil of an ill-considered bill being made law, it is pleasant to get away from the politics, and look at what I enjoy – teaching and medicine. What I quite like is when the literature confirms my deeply held scepticism.

I know that self-directed learning is over-rated, doctors make terrible patients and arts-based teaching is good to expand horizons. I also know that complementary medicine is peddled by the gullible to the equally gullible.

I know it because it is in the journals!
