New agents tackle resistance in HIV infection

Treatment-resistance is a common problem in patients with HIV infection. How to overcome this problem was a hot topic at the 7th Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections [San Francisco, US; January-February 2000]. Several new anti-HIV agents have been developed in the hope of overcoming resistance in the treatment-experienced patient, and the potential benefits of these new agents were discussed.
