A new 'real world' study has shown that patients with acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis (AECB) who receive moxifloxacin report relief of symptoms sooner than patients receiving azithromycin. The 2 drugs appear to be equally effective at resolving symptoms. The study was presented at a poster session at the 66th Annual Medical Meeting of the American College of Chest Physicians [San Francisco, US; October 2000].
