Amlodipine plus olmesartan a winning combo in hypertension

Combination therapy with amlodipine plus olmesartan medoxomil appears to be effective across a broad range of patient subtypes, according to study results presented at the 23rd Annual Scientific Meeting of the American Society of Hypertension (ASH) [New Orleans, Louisiana, US; May 2008]. A number of posters presented at the meeting highlighted results of subanalyses of a 1940-patient study, revealing the above combination to be associated with significantly greater mean reductions in BP than amlodipine or olmesartan monotherapy, regardless of age, gender, BMI or presence of diabetes.
