Nancy Rainville Oliver, PhD, RN, AHN-BC, is currently an associate professor in the Department of Nursing at California State University, Long Beach. Her interest and expertise involve the integration of alternative and complementary therapies and the related nursing interventions into health care practice and, more specifically, nursing practice. She has developed a 3-unit elective graduate/undergraduate “Holistic Nursing Interventions” course, which is offered each spring semester. Her most recent publication is “The Advanced Practice Nurse and Complementary Therapies” in Advanced Practice Nursing: Essentials for Role Development (edited by L. A. Joel, 2004).
