1Jo Anne Kuc, RN, BSN, is owner of Midwest Medical Legal Resources in St. John, Indiana and consults with both plaintiff and defense attorneys on medical malpractice and personal injury cases. Her 23 years as a nurse include practice in critical care, PACU and acute pain management, a clinical specialty in which she remains active. She is a published author and speaks on various nursing liability topics.
2JoAnne Pietro, RN, BA, JD, is a partner at Ruprecht, Hart & Weeks, LLP, in Millburn, New Jersey. Her areas of expertise include medical malpractice defense, personal injury defense and plaintiff personal injury. She also represents nurses in employment issues and before the Board of Nursing on discipline and licensure issues. As adjunct professor at Bloomfield College she teaches ethics and legal issues in the nursing department. Ms. Pietro also provides home care and private duty as a registered nurse. She is the author of a chapter on peri-operative malpractice issues in the auxiliary textbook Nursing Malvractice.
