Mark Cunningham, PhD, FTCD, is the Head of Discipline of Physiology at Trinity College Dublin. He is the Ellen Mayston Bates Professor of Neurophysiology of Epilepsy in the School of Medicine, Trinity College Dublin. He is also a Funded Investigator as part of FutureNeuro. He obtained his PhD in Physiology from the University of Bristol. He then took up research positions at Bristol University, the University of Leeds, Heidelberg University and Newcastle University. His work focuses on elucidating the mechanisms underlying the generation of various types of neuronal oscillations in physiological and pathophysiological states. He has authored key studies examining pathological oscillations associated with epilepsy using ex vivo human brain slices.
