Seldinger Cricothyrotomy Kit Preferred to New Tube-over-Needle Device

Dr. Walls is Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston, and Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He has received devices for use in airway research and training from Cook Critical Care, maker of the Melker kit. One version of the Melker kit has been modified to incorporate instruments for open cricothyrotomy designed by Dr. Walls and his collaborators. He also receives devices for use in airway research and training from Covidien/Tyco Healthcare, distributor of Portex endotracheal tubes.
