Article abstract

The effect of perimenopause and menopause on epilepsy is an area that has received scant attention. There are no retrospective or prospective published studies. Information that is available is largely anecdotal and suggests that menopause can have anything from a beneficial effect on epilepsy to no effect or even an adverse effect. The effect of hormone replacement therapy has not been investigated.
