Abstract

Bowen A et al (2016) Enabling specialist nurses to prove their value. Nursing Times; 112: 14, 16-19. As pressures on healthcare resources and staff continue to increase, all must prove their worth. Specialist nurses are no exception, but the nature of their work and their role within a wider multidisciplinary team can make it harder for them to gather data specific to their roles. This article describes a programme that was developed by Multiple Sclerosis Trust charity to demonstrate the value of multiple sclerosis specialist nurses. The model is transferable to other specialist groups and has been adopted by Dementia UK.
