Abstract

Problems with bladder and bowel control are common in children and young people, and can have a devastating impact on a child's learning, development and quality of life but there was a clear lack of guidance for managing continence issues in schools. Bladder & Bowel UK and ERIC, The Children's Bowel & Bladder Charity collaborated to develop an information resource, and sought feedback from a wide range of partners in the process. Children must not be refused admission to school due to continence difficulties and should be offered a care plan to meet their individual needs. This guide is a vital resource for schools, families and healthcare professionals in managing bladder and bowel health.
