Abstract

Agency workers have gained significant legal rights since new legislation came into force on October 1. The main purpose of the Agency Worker Regulations (AWR) 2010 is to ensure that after a 12-week period agency workers are paid and treated in broad terms the same way as staff directly employed by hospitals, nursing homes or other clients of their agency. This article looks at the new legal obligations brought in by the AWR.
