We propose a complex algorithm for the analysis of the stress-strain state and optimization of the design of arbitrary structurally heterogeneous curvilinear rods subjected to three-dimensional loads modeling the coils of the electromagnetic systems of electrophysical units. The necessary conditions for optimization are formulated according to Pontryagin's maximum principle whose numerical realization is performed by the method of successive approximations in varied functions. The problem of minimization of the weight of the coil of a toroidal magnetic field in a large electrophysical unit is considered.
